Wednesday 1st

This months art piece is a hand painted glass tile that was a birthday present from our eldest daughter.
I really like this bird with attitude that now lives on the bookcase. I had thought of framing it to hang but with our limited wall space he seems happiest where he is.
Normally I like a long mild fall but I'm looking forward to our first good freeze in the hopes my allergies will finally clear up.
For quite awhile we were seriously considering moving to the big city. After looking at houses in the city we have decided we will find ways to make farm chores easier and stay here as long as our health permits.
For now I'm trying to find energy to get caught up with things that have gone undone while I've been sick with allergies and fibromyalgia. At least that is the doctors guess while we are waiting for test results.
So a little work and a little extra rest for now. This fall weather is beautiful in our area.

Wednesday 8th
Since we never have trick or treaters here I have decided this year to quit putting up Halloween decorations. So all of my plastic pumpkins that normally line the driveway, the cardboard skeleton that hung in the porch window and the cardboard print of stacked pumpkins that went in the Studio window will all go away.
Simplify Simplify Simplify. The new mantra of my life. I'm very slowly working my way through the house getting rid of everything we no longer use or want.
Bruce sent  his novel to an agent. Hopefully he will hear something back this month.
He is already well into writing the next one.
Doctor says I'm dehydrated so I'm pushing liquids and will go back next week for more test.
We recently went to Wilton.Mo to visit friends Bruce met during his bike ride on the KATY trail. I feel I've always known them. I wish we lived closer but I'm sure there will be many more visits back and forth between us. The really bad part is their internet service is so slow they seldom do e-mail. When it takes 3 minutes to load Yahoo when you first log on - that is slow.

Tuesday  14th
Bruce and I have both been down
with something.  Needless to say very little was done except to take care of animals.
I have started working with Lucky on obedience training. Now that he is maturing and not so excitable he is ready to go on to more advanced levels.
We have a large crop of persimmons this year and the goats are eating the ones that fall from the tree. Most are still very green but they seem to relish the bitter things.
Luckily the persimmon tree in the pony pasture doesn't have much fruit on it this year. In the past Bugs has eaten so many he made himself sick. He does go down and carefully search the ground several times a day just in case any have blown down.
The trees are starting to turn and it will soon be time to start hiking. Need that first good freeze to put the ticks and chiggers down.
We are looking forward to spending a day at Ha Ha Tonka Park. It has also been several years since we hiked at Bennett Springs.
It  feels like summer out- we still haven't had a fire in the wood stove. It will soon be time to think more about inside projects after we get the garden cleared for the winter. We still have bell peppers and banana peppers growing. The rest of the garden is finished. for the year. I do have a nice crop of large gourds to harvest after the first freeze

Monday 20th
Bruce quickly got over being sick but mine lingered on . Turns out I have walking phnemonia. After antibiotics and a lot of bed rest I'm finally up and feeling better today.
Still somewhat weak and wobbly but on the mend.

Sunday 26th
I have started taking down the major part of the information on the web site about the Workstead.  Eventually the web site will be redesigned to just cover  my Fiber Studio and other related  information.
I have enjoyed meeting people through the site but my expanding interest in Fiber related projects is taking up more of my time and energy.
